Joseph Oscar Matthewson[2] was the former mayor of Ashland, Kentucky. Beforehand, he worked for the Commercial Club of Ashland, a precursor to the Ashland Board of Trade, and ran the program "Public Improvements" at the Club's second annual banquet on January 17, 1905.[3]
