Started in Mumbai in 1973 by Nimesh Kampani[2], JM Financial was originally started as JM Financial & Investment Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. It was one of the early companies to introduce convertible debentures and Deep Discount Bond in the Indian Capital Markets. During 1986 JM Financial Limited[3] was incorporated to engage in the business of Stock Broking and Securities and in 1991 was listed on the Bombay, Ahmedabad and Delhi Stock Exchanges. In the year 1994, JM Financial Asset Management introduced one of the first private sector mutual funds. In the 1999, JM Financial entered into a joint venture with Morgan Stanley[4] to expand into the area of Investment Banking and Securities. In 2007, JM Financial separated from the joint venture with Morgan Stanley[5]. They acquired ASK Securities[6] (renamed as JM Financial Institutional Securities), an institutional securities firm and launched a Real Estate Fund. In 2013, JM Financial formed a partnership in a Real Estate NBFC with Vikram Pandit[7]. In 2017, JM Financial received licence from NHB[8] and floated a Housing Finance Company (HFC)[9]. One of the other services acquired by JM Finance was Asset Reconstruction Business[10].
