  • In July 2011, YY Inc. was established as a holding company in the Cayman Islands.
  • On September 6, 2011, YY Inc. made Duowan BVI a wholly owned subsidiary through a share exchange.
  • Web-based "YY" started in October 2012.
  • Listed on the NASDAQ market on November 21, 2012.
  • In November 2014, YY Inc. started the game livestreaming business unit "Huya" (Huya).[3]
  • Started strategic investment in Bigo Inc. in May 2018. Completed acquisition of Bigo Inc. in March 2019.[4]

Bigo Live is a live streaming platform owned by a Singapore-based BIGO Technology,[8][9][10] which was founded in 2014 by David Li and Jason Hu. As of 2019, BIGO Technology is owned by Joyy. Joyy completed the acquisition of BIGO Technology in March 2019.[11]

Likee (formerly LIKE) is a short video creation and sharing app, available for iOS and Android operating systems.[12][13][14]
