J Barry Grenga (born September 26, 1970) is an American Producer of the film "Slow Dancin' Down The Aisles Of The Quickcheck".[1] [2] He served as the films Executive producer, Line Producer, Unit production manager, Post-production Supervisor & Co Editor.

The film "Slow Dancin' Down The Aisles Of The Quickcheck" was the first MFA thesis film from Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts to win an Academy Award & to also concurrently win both an Academy Award & Emmy Award.[3] [4] [5] [6] These two awards individually & or taken together, are the most prestigious in the world given to student produced films.[7] To date no other MFA film from FSU College Of Motion Picture Arts has received both awards.[8] The film was also selected for screening at Cannes International Film Festival.[9][10]

Grenga credits much of the film's success to the joint guidance of screenwriting & directing Professor's Tim Long & Frank Patterson; largely the generosity of the Eastman Kodak Company & one of it's key Executives Mr. Ralph Olney.[11] [12] During pre-production Grenga networked with Mr. Olney resulting in an additional supply of free film stock. The free film stock provided by Kodak in conjunction with that purchased by the Production budget allowed the film production an advantage of shooting at a much increased, and professional shooting ratio.

At the 26th Annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Student Academy Awards on June 1999 Thomas Jackson was awarded in the Narrative category as Director of "Slow Dancin' Down the Aisles of the Quickcheck". [13] And at the 20th Annual Academy of Television Arts & Sciences College Television Awards in March 1999, J Barry Grenga was awarded in the Comedy category as Producer of "Slow Dancin' Down the Aisles of the Quickcheck".
