Junior Kissi (born April 22, 1998),[1] better known as J Bert, is an American rapper and songwriter.[2] Currently signed to Bert Music,[3] he released his debut studio album, The Kairos, on October 3, 2018. His second studio album, Vision, was released on February 7, 2019. He released his third studio album, Eighty Eight, on December 28, 2020.

Early life[edit]

Junior Kissi was born in Dallas on April 22, 1998.[1] He is of Ivorian descent and grew up speaking French fluently.[4] After his parent's divorce, Junior moved at the age of 6 with his uncle to Lyon, France, the capital city in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region which is about four hours drive from Paris, France.[5]

J Bert said he grew up listening to Sexion d'Assaut, Jay-Z, 2Pac, |Notorious B.I.G & 50 Cent, but after moving to Dallas, he started listening to Drake and Future.[6] His first rap name was Bert,[7] but later changed it to J Bert. He attended J J Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas.[8]

Career[edit]

In 2019, he released his debut solo mixtape, Vision,[9] and later that year released a collaborative song with upcoming artist Detty K called Stump It (volume 1).[10]During the same year, J Bert's song, Lover Her,[11] gain popularity on the famous platform TikTok.[12]

In 2020, he released his second collaborative album titled Eighty Eight.[13] The 11-Track project featured music producer and sound engineer from Texas, California and Morocco.[14] An independent multimedia brand with over 15 million views gave recognition on their platform to support J Bert in his music career.[15]

On February 7, 2019, J Bert announced that he had signed to Bert Music.[16] A record label supervised by his management team.

On 15 October 2021, J Bert released album "WHAT’S NEXT”, under his own banner Bert Music. Right after the realease it gained some serious attention of the music lovers.[17]
