Jace "Lobster Claw" Ruth (born 27 May 2002) is a Junior Varsity hockey goaltender for Valor Christian High School (Highlands Ranch). Born in Colorado, he joined Littleton Hockey Association in 2015. He is best known for his 1st Team All Academic JV Nomination for his rookie season in 2017-18. Despite his lack of starts, he always seemed to pull it off when it never really mattered. For instance, when the team played [Regis Jesuit] High School in the JV state tournament. When the starting goalie Brendan Williamson absolutely blew the start, letting in 7 goals, Jace came in at the end of the second period and had a shutout performance including his iconic poke check to stop a breakaway. Off the ice, Jace is known for his sense of humor and his strict mother who often interferes with him hanging out with his friends. Although she can be irritating at times, she is always looking out for Jace and his friends and they are thankful she is there for them.
On August 24, 2017, Jace began 9th grade at Valor Christian High School. The very first class he attended, Honors Geometry, was where he met his soon to be best friend, Max Sarkissian. The two both played hockey, but had not encountered each other extensively until this day. Max sat down next to him, as he was the only friendly face in the class. The friendship took off from there. Whether it be in the locker room before practice, in the halls before class, in the lunch room helping him with homework, or in Max's basement nearly every weekend, the two were rarely seen apart. They started tinkering with computers in Jace's garage. Before long they developed an expertise in computer science and later went on to start a company called Apple Inc.
On Saturday, April 14, 2018, Jace Ruth flipped a John Deere Gator, end over end, resulting in a critical break in his finger. The following Thursday, he had surgery on his hand that ended up with him receiving a cast on his left arm. He chose bright red for the color of his claw so that it resembled the claw of a lobster, hence the nickname "Lobster Claw."
