Jacek Szafranowicz (born November 11, 1983 in Gdańsk[1]) is a Polish writer.

Biographical facts[edit]

He briefly studied Polish Philology at the University of Gdańsk[2]. In 2009, he participated in the 6th edition of the Pomeranian Film Workshops in Gdynia.[3]

He currently lives in Sopot.[4][5]

Literature[edit]

He debuted in 2005 with a block of poems in Migotania, Przejaśnienia[6]. Later he published poems and prose in such Polish magazines as Przekrój[7], Zeszyty Poetyckie, Bliza[8], Autograf, Wyspa, Helikopter[9] and Korespondencja z ojcem.

In May 2021, he published a prose piece titled Dreams from the Quarantine in Drobiazgi[10]. In the text filled with dark humor he refers to wide variety of artists, among others, writers Thomas Bernhard, William S. Burroughs and Zbigniew Herbert, musicians Marilyn Manson and Al Jourgensen, and filmmakers Dennis Hopper and Andrei Tarkovsky. The illustration, intended to resemble a movie poster, was created by Polish visual artist Julia Deptuła.

He published, both in prose and verse, on the website of Wydawnictwo J.[11]

Journalism[edit]

In 2009, he took on the role of editor of film section in music quarterly Blackastrial[12]. He worked there until the editorial board disbanded in 2011.

In November 2021, he teamed up with the blog Jeszcze tego nie słyszałeś[4]. There he published, among other things, a eulogy about Genesis P-Orridge.[13]
