Jack May (born April 14, 1981) is an American mixed martial artist and former kickboxer currently competing in the Heavyweight division. A professional since 2011, he has competed for the UFC, Bellator, the PFL, Titan FC, and Tachi Palace Fights.[2] As a kickboxer, he fought once for K-1 in 2012.[3]

Background[edit]

Born and raised in Whittier, California, May had a rough upbringing, but was a talented basketball player being highly recruited out of high school.[4]He later attended Duquesne University, but due to fighting and getting intro trouble off the court he left and spent his next season at NJCAA College of Southern Idaho. The next year, he attended the University of Idaho on a full scholarship, but again was kicked off the team for fighting another teammate, breaking his jaw in the locker room. After a fourth full scholarship to North Dakota State, May graduated college and played professionally overseas. [5]

Mixed martial arts career[edit]

After compiling an amateur career of 1-2, May made his professional debut in 2011. He compiled a record of 7-0 as a professional before being signed by the UFC.[6]

May would not return to the cage for two years after many fight cancelled bouts, losing to Chase Sherman after hurting his leg in the first minute of the fight. After picking up a quick finish at Bellator 170, May signed with the Professional Fighters League.
