Jacob William Beckley (born May 21, 1978), is an American businessman, philanthropist, lecturer, and Solidity developer[1]. Jacob was born in Hinsdale, Illinois and grew up in a suburb about 20 minutes West of downtown Chicago [2]. Jacob’s passion to help those in need made him pursue training in priesthood, which he later abandoned [3]. In 1995, following his transfer from Benedictine College (now Benedictine University), Jacob earned a degree in marketing communication [4]. In 2016, Jacob, with the help of his wife Rafaela, created The Beckley Foundation, which is committed to eradicating pediatric cancer [5].
The Beckley Foundation
The Beckley Foundation was founded by Jacob Beckley and his wife, Rafaela, in December 2016. The 501c3 registered non-profit organisation focuses on paediatric cancer to help raise awareness and donations for research and development of both treatments and cures.[6] The foundation is formed entirely of volunteers and describes itself as a “philanthropic endeavour on the part of committed individuals from all walks of life, bound together by the sincere desire to eradicate childhood cancer.[7]
The foundation has received international recognition for its endeavours and even celebrity endorsement and participation. To date, the foundation has raised over $1 million dollars.[8]
