Jacques Bastien
Jacques Bastien (born January 24, 1990) is an American entrepreneur, designer, marketer, public speaker, writer and professor. He is CEO and founder of a number of companies. The self-proclaimed ‘hustlepreneur’ was named a Black Enterprise ‘Modern Man’ of 2016[1] (dubbed “Mr. Millennial”) and a member of the Albany Business Review’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2015.[2]
Early life[edit]
Bastien left his native island of Haiti and emigrated to the United States in 2000. He lived in Brooklyn, New York, until 2008 when he enrolled in the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany) in Albany, NY, where he currently resides. There he received his BS in Information Science with a Business minor in May 2012.[citation needed]
While still in high school in Brooklyn, Bastien produced and sold musical beats to aspiring artists. At university he ran a barbershop in his dorm room as well as a photography company that focused primarily on producing photos and videos for on-campus and local events. Bastien also worked as a graphic design freelancer which eventually led to him to starting and running a web design and development firm out of his dorm room.[citation needed]
Career[edit]
Bastien founded boogie, a marketing agency, in 2012 with offices in Troy and Brooklyn, NY.
In 2015 Bastien launched a subsidiary known as Breadcrumbs, a web design startup. Breadcrumbs is a byproduct of boogie[clarification needed] with a small team working out of boogie's Troy office.
Launched in summer 2016, SHADE is an offshoot influencer management agency for black and brown creators.[clarification needed]
Bastien has also built and maintained his own blog, Hustlepreneur.co, over the duration of his career. In March 2017 it was announced via the Albany Business Review that Boogie would be closing and going out of business.

Personal life[edit]
Bastien married his long-time girlfriend, business partner Dahcia Lyons-Bastien, in 2014 after his repeated proposal attempts to her went viral.[3]
Approximately one month after their proposal video was released, it had garnered just under 40,000 views on YouTube. The video made its way to FOX 5 News in New York City. They loved their story so much that they decided to sponsor Bastien and Lyon’s wedding. The wedding took place at the Central Park Boat House on May 22, 2014, and was officiated by Emmy Award-winning news reporter Ernie Anastos.[4]
