Jai Morjaria is a multi-award winning lighting designer for live performance, theatre and streamed theatre. He is the first person of colour to design the lighting for an original West End Musical (Cruise at the Duchess Theatre, May 2021).

Jai is a first-generation British Indian, with roots in India, Kenya and Uganda. He grew up in North London and continued his studies in West London. He then trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where he gained his BA (Hons) with distinction in Technical Theatre and Stage Management specialising in Stage Electrics and Lighting Design.[1]

He has campaigned for more equal opportunities backstage in theatre and better pay since starting his career.
