Jake Anchia (born March 5, 1997) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Seattle Mariners organization.
Amateur career[edit]
Anchia enrolled at Nova Southeastern University to play college baseball after graduating from Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Florida, where he grew up.[1] In his junior year at NSU in 2018, Anchia posted a batting average of .340 with 71 hits, 64 RBIs, 22 home runs & a slugging percentage of .713.[2]
Professional career[edit]
Anchia was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, and later signed with the Mariners for $200,000.[3] Anchia started his professional career the same year with the Everett Aqua Sox & accomplished a batting average of .228 along with 13 hits, 8 RBIs & 2 home runs.[4] In 2019, he played for both the West Virginia Power & the Modesto Nuts and earned a combined .201 batting average with 65 hits, 43 RBIs & 12 home runs.[5] No baseball was played due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, however, in 2021, Anchia achieved a combined batting average of .218 with, 61 hits, 52 RBIs, a triple & 15 home runs, including a grand slam for both the Aqua Sox & the Arkansas Travelers.[6] In 2022, he got a combined of .222 with 65 hits, 40 RBIs & 4 home runs for the Travelers & Tacoma Rainiers.[7] For 2023, Anchia spent the season with the Travelers and racked up a batting average of .190 with 23 RBIs, 4 home runs & 2 triples on 45 hits.[8]
