Paul Jacob Foy (born November 1, 1990)[1] is a Canadian actor. He is best known for his role as Tuff McMurray in the Hallmark series Ride, his role as King James in Reign, and his role as Felix Silva in Designated Survivor.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Foy was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

In high school, Foy acted in a production of High School Musical on Stage!, and afterwards spent three years in the music theatre performance program at Sheridan College.[3]

Career[edit]

Since graduating, Foy has appeared in numerous theatrical, film and television productions spanning from coast to coast. He appears in the third season of ‘Designated Survivor’ (Netflix) alongside Anthony Edwards; as King James in ‘Reign’ (the CW) with Rachel Skarsten; 'Eat, Drink & Be Married' opposite Jocelyn Hudon; and stars in the (BravoFACT) short film 'Ariel Unraveling.'

More recently, Jake has appeared as Tuff McMurray in 'Ride'[4], an American neo-Western drama television series created by Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi that premiered on March 26, 2023, on Hallmark Channel.[5]

As a director, Jake’s unique lens on musical storytelling for the screen has lead to collaborations with a roster of internationally acclaimed artists. Foy worked with the Second City Toronto Conservatory on his earliest short film ‘Kristine & Kirstine,’ and his subsequent musical short ‘Before They Were Them’ debuted nationwide in Canada after being decorated with winning laurels in Los Angeles and New York. Jake’s newest collaboration and screenwriting debut is a 38-minute musical short film based on a true love story titled ’More Together’ with music & lyrics by Drew Gasparini.[6]

Personal Life[edit]

Jake resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is engaged to his partner, Nicolas La Traverse.[7]
