Jake Wieneke
Jake Wieneke is an American football wide receiver who signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota VIkings on April 28, 2018.[1] He played college football at South Dakota State University.
Early years[edit]
Wieneke attended Maple Grove Senior High School, where he lettered in football, track and field and basketball. As a senior in 2012, Wieneke caught 68 receptions for 1,330 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named to the all-state team and was a Mr. Football finalist. Wieneke was named the North Offensive MVP in the Minnesota All-Star Game in June 2013 after catching two touchdown passes.
College career[edit]
Wieneke played at South Dakota State University from 2014-2017. He led the Jackrabbits with 73 receptions for 1,404 yards and a school-record 16 touchdown as a redshirt freshman in 2014. Wieneke was named MVFC Freshman of the Year and finished as runner-up for the Jerry Rice Award as top freshman in Football Championship Subdivision.
In 2017, Wieneke became the first player in Jackrabbit history to earn All-America honors in all four seasons, earning second-team recognition from the American Football Coaches Association. He also earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors for the fourth season in a row. Wieneke was honored nationally as a Campbell Trophy finalist and as a member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
