Jake Witlen
Jake Witlen is a video designer and theatre maker based in Berlin. From 2013-2018 he was the head of the Video Department at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz He has designed work with Thomas Ostermeier (Professor Bernhardi), Romeo Castellucci (Ödipus, der Tyrann), Rubén Polendo (DR.C at Three Legged Dog) and many others. As a system's engineer, he has worked alongside some of Europe's greatest directors, including Milo Rau, Katie Mitchell, Marius von Mayenburg, Nicholas Stemann etc. He has toured the world with his productions.
Trained originally as an actor and director at Marymount Manhattan College, he was an founding member of the Internationalists, a collective of directors from around the world, dedicated to creating a more open, just and interactive theatrical experience. His work has been seen in New York at 3-Legged Dog, Here Arts Center, PS122, Laguardia Performing Arts Center, the Ohio Theatre etc.
