Jalal-Eddeen Abubakar Saleh[edit]

Jalal-Eddeen Abubakar Saleh (born March 1971) is a Professor of Public Health with specialization in Epidemiology. Born to a renown family, he is the fifth child of the first civilian Governor of Adamawa State Abubakar Saleh Michika.[1] Jalal Saleh is happily married to Fadimatu Shuaib Bobbo, the daughter of the former Director General during his father’s regime as a Governor and are blessed with 4 children, boys and girls in equal proportion. Jalal Saleh is currently an employee of the Adamawa State Government and also a consultant on disease control and prevention to some international bodies such as the World Health Organization.

Academic and working career[edit]

Jalal Saleh obtained his first medical degree from the University of Maiduguri Nigeria in 1994 at the young age of 23. He immediately took appointment with the Adamawa State Government as an Intern before proceeding to the one year mandatory national service in Minna, Niger State. Upon his return from the national service, Jalal Saleh briefly served as chief physician to Col. Ahmad Garba Hussain for a period of two months and then Governor Boni Haruna for a period of at least 4 years. [2] He then proceeded to the famous Imperial College London for his postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine between 2003-04. Jalal Saleh obtained his Master of Public Health from the London School Of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2010. He returned back to Nigeria after completion of his studies and work for a couple of years. Jalal Saleh further enrolled into the world famous Walden University U.S.A. and obtained his Doctoral degree in Public Health in December 2014. Because of his outstanding academic excellence at the Walden University, Jalal Saleh was given membership of the Golden Key International Honors Society.[3]

Jalal Saleh is an affiliate member of various professional bodies that include Royal Society for Public Health (Fellow), Royal Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Fellow), Golden Key International Honor Society (Member), International Society for Disease Surveillance (Member), International Society for Infectious Diseases (Member), International Epidemiological Association (Member), American Public Health Association (Member), American College Of Epidemiology (Member), American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Member), Individual Member, Collaboration on Health and Environment, U.K., Nigerian Institute for Management Consultants (Member), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Member).[4]

Jalal Saleh, with research work centered on vaccine preventable diseases, has at least 23 scholarly papers published in various Nigerian and International Journals.[5]

Jalal Saleh is currently on the watch list of future politicians in Adamawa State and Nigeria.
