James Harold Charles Hamilton, Marquess of Hamilton (born 19 August 1969) is a British aristocrat. He is the heir apparent to the Dukedom of Abercorn.

Biography[edit]

James Harold Charles Hamilton was born on 19 August 1969 in Paddington, London to James Hamilton and his wife Alexandra (née Phillips), the then-Marquess and Marchioness of Hamilton. He has two siblings; Lady Sophia (born 1973) and Lord Nicholas (born 1979). From his birth, he was given the courtesy title Viscount Strabane, as the Duke of Abercorn heir apparent.

Upon his paternal grandfather's death in 1979, Hamilton became Marquess of Hamilton as his father's heir apparent. Hamilton was educated at Harrow School as a boy. He was also a Page of Honour to Elizabeth II from 1982 until 1984.[1]

Hamilton married Tanya Marie Nation on 7 May 2004 at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks. They have two children together:

  • Lord Claud Douglas Harold Hamilton (born 12 December 2007)
