James Lorenzo Bowen (1842 – 1919) was an American historian and soldier. He specialized in the military history of the American Civil War.
He was born in Marlboro, Vermont on April 2, 1842 to Orrin Monroe Bowen and Harriet Sigourney Joy.[1]
He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. After getting discharged from the army he started a new career, that of a historian and author. He went on to write several notable and bestselling books.[1] He died in 1919.[1]
