Jan Turovski

Jan Turovski (* 1939 in Bielefeld) is a German writer. Since his debut novel The Sundays of Mr. Kopanski from 1988 he has published numerous novels, poems and short stories.[1] [2]

Life[edit]

After attending a scientific high school, Turovski completed commercial training and voice training, opera. He also attended courses at the University of Cambridge and obtained the Cambridge University Certificate of Proficiency in English, as well as the Cambridge Diploma in English Language and Contemporary literature. During his time in England he also worked as a student trainee at the London luxury department store Selfridges Ltd. He then moved to Paris, where he attended literature lectures at the Collège de France and attended courses at the Sorbonne. He obtained the Sorbonne Diplôme de langue et civilization françaises and the Lettres Modernes.

In 1988 Turovski's late debut novel Die Sonntage des Herr Kopanski was published by the renowned Zurich publishing house Benziger.[3] Since then he has published poems, short stories and novels, some in English and French. His novels have been published mainly by Klaus Servene since 2013. In addition, Turovski worked on die horen, The London Magazine, various poetry anthologies, as well as on Rowohlts Don Juan anthology Stories between love and death.

Turovski repeatedly stayed in the United States for long periods of time. He lives in Bonn.
