Jan Zeger Vink

Jan Zeger Vink was a young Dutch artist that painted a variety of portraits, landscapes, still-lifes and focussed more and more on representations of the social reality in his surroundings.

Life and Work[edit]

Jan Vink was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on 24/01/1919 and lived there till around 1941. During the period of WW II he moved to Maastricht where he lived and worked till 1947. He moved to Belgium on 21/10/1947 where he passed away some months later on 12/03/1948. Some indications are that he drowned at this young age of 29. He was most likely was buried in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

Style[edit]

Jan Vink used different techniques ranging from pencil drawing, Watercolor and gouache work s as well as oil-on-canvas.

He seemed especially gifted for very detailed portraying using the different techniques.

He became notable for the city view and street paintings notably in Maastricht.

Exhibitions[edit]

On April 19 1949, a commemorative exhibition on Vink's oeuvre was organized by the art dealer De Kunstzalen Dejong Bergers in Maastricht. It was the only art exhibition location in Maastricht in the 1950's
