Janam Raj
Mohendra Deka known by his stage name "Janam Raj" was an Indian Singer, Composer, Lyricist and an Advocate in Gauhati High Court. He was from Guwahati, Assam. He studied law in JB Law College. He was an approved singer in Bhajan and Ghazal at All India Radio and Doordarshan. His Father's name is Harendra Deka and his Mother's name is Bimala Deka. He sang more than 50 assamese bhajans with Anima Choudhury.
Early Life
Janam Raj was born in a Assamese family at Bilasipara, Dhubri. He was born on the day of Maha Shivratri. His father Harendra Chandra Deka was a business man and his mother Bimala Deka was a teacher. He lost his father when was studying in seventh standard.
He has an interest in singing, so he started leaning classical music. He participated in many music competitions and won many prizes. After completing his education he took a job in Vikrant tyre. He performed many live concerts in the 90s and 80s. His mother died in 1995. After his mother's death he resigned his job and started studying Law in JB Law College and he get his bachelor degree of law (LL.B). He was practising in Gauhati High Court since 2002.
Career
He went to Mumbai to met Suresh Wadkar. He learned more music from him. His first music album "Premanjali" was released in the late 90s. At that time that music album was very popular all over Assam. After a few years, he met Usha Uthup at a concert. After that he sang and recorded two songs with her. In 2005, he received an award for Best Music Director from Jyotirupa Oil India Joint Media Awards for the song "Moi Asilu Preyoshi" and Santa Uzir received Best Female Playback Singer. During his nearly three decades long career he performed 120+ songs and heard in a bengali film Tridhara (2018), in a Telefilm "Maa Mahamaya", and also sang the title songs of some television serials.
He sang more than 50 assamese bhajans with Anima Choudhury.
Personal Life
Janam Raj was married on 2009 with Advocate Minu Baruah. In 2010, he had a son named Rhythm Kashyap.
Death
He died due to Cardiac Arrest on 29 April 2023 (4:21 pm) at Nemcare Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, Assam.
