Jandi Mukianto

Jandi Mukianto (jan-dee mu:'kianto/) is an entrepreneur[1] who also works as a lecturer[2], certified bankruptcy lawyer and receiver, mediator, solicitor[3], activist[4], and politician[5] from Indonesia who served as Chair of the Indonesian National Shipowner's Legal Division Association[6], Deputy Executive Board of the Indonesian Buddhist Representative[7], Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Chinese Association[8], and is the President of the Junior Chamber of International Indonesia for 2017[9].

Jandi was born in Jakarta. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Trisakti University in 2009, he served at the Legal Clinic of the Indonesian Chinese Association and actively participate at LBH Jakarta through the 2009 batch Legal Aid Training Program.[10] Failure to become a Candidate Chairperson of the Student Executive Board at the Trisakti University Faculty of Law, has made him more active in off-campus youth activities. Amateur league futsal players who retire due to knee injuries (ACL/Anterior Cruciate Ligament), he begin to get to know extra-campus organizations, based on the regulations of the Director General of Higher Education Number 26/2002 which are forbidden to gather.[11] The recipient of scholarship from Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is increasingly diving deeper in learning social and justice inequality in the nation and state especially to marginal communities, and recalling the reasons and goals of him taking legal education on a reform campus,[12] later he graduated with Cum Laude appreciation through his writing about legal aid service.[13]

Jandi's alleged involvement in the international mafia circle was also seen in his involvement in helping foreign businessmen accused of human trafficking in West Kalimantan.[14] Jandi repatriated two contracted survivors back to Jakarta and reunited the victims with their families and community organizations who advocated their return processes.[15] For Jandi, the struggle for humanity cannot be seen from the position or robes worn, let alone judge from the actions taken, all of these judgments can only be seen with the human heart.[16]

Background

Jandi is the first son of 3 (three) siblings from Singkawang, West Kalimantan couple T. Mukianto (father) and YT. Ngan (mother). He is an academic, writer, advocate, and national businessman who has always upheld the ethics of life which he taught from his parents as a child. He also supported Indonesian democracy political processs by actively participating in supporting Jokowi as Millennial Spokesperson.[17] In 2014 he and his friends began their career paths as advocates by establishing the Wiem Law Firm. Solely because he saw many injustices experienced by marginalized people in Jakarta. His love of science makes him a person who likes to read and write, so that he has written several works in the form of books and papers published domestically and internationally.[18]

Events of ethnic racial violence in May 1998 made an impression and made him want to go to school about law in Indonesia. As an Indonesian citizen, little Jandi was often compelled, beaten, and chased because of his yellow skin and narrow eyes, but that didn't make him tired of loving Indonesia. According to him ethnic discrimination is an inevitable thing in sociology of society, so it needs the role of the state to be present, as well as fostering cooperation from people with various backgrounds to reduce violence on the basis of ethnic and skin colors differences.[19] As is often seen in international soccer events[20] and also what happened to George Floyd in the US which became the biggest wave of action in the history of US democracy.[21]

Organization and Politic

The young man who likes to exercise is active in various organizations and also political activities.[22] Not affiliated with any political party,[23] he actively voiced his opinions and thoughts regarding the national situation and humanitarian situation at national and international forums such as Junior Chamber International.[24] In the movement against racism, radicalism and intolerant attitudes in Indonesia Jandi organized the 2017 World Friendship Day in Jakarta, which was opened by Wiranto, then Coordinating Minister for Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia,[25] and also Zulkifli Hasan,[26] then Speaker of the Peoples Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, and several other national officials from the Army and Police National Department.

Jandi actively developed the Indonesian sporting world through National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KONI) especially the lion dance. The Indonesian lion dance team is among the best in the world, at some international event, Indonesia's flag can fly highest on the lion dance world championship stage.[27] This shows that the spirit of sports and togetherness that exists in young athletes has always been born sportive even though it has been banned for decades in Indonesia because it is considered a forbidden culture,[28] until finally under the leadership of President Habibie through Presidential Instruction Number 26 of 1998 and President KH. Abdurrahman Wahid through Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2000 eliminating discriminatory rules against the Chinese community and revoked Presidential Decree Number 14 of 1967.[29]
