Career

Early career and GameSpot (2008-2012)

Douglas began her career in technology journalism, serving as an editor for MSN Tech & Gadgets UK starting in 2008.[3] She later moved into video game media as a section editor and reporter for GameSpot UK. During her tenure at GameSpot, she was a frequent contributor to the site's video output, including the daily news program Start/Select.[4]

In addition to her digital work, Douglas wrote a monthly column for BBC Focus magazine and appeared as a contributor on the television series Videogame Nation for the Challenge network.[5][6]

Outside Xbox and Oxventure (2012-present)

In 2012, Douglas joined Andy Farrant and Mike Channell as a founding presenter of Outside Xbox, a YouTube channel launched by Eurogamer to focus on Xbox-related gaming and culture.[7]

As part of the channel's expansion into tabletop gaming, Douglas became a core member of Oxventure, an actual play tabletop gaming series focusing primarily on Dungeons & Dragons.[8] She has also appeared in Critical Role's Thresher series.[9]

In November 2019, Douglas and the other members of the Oxventure cast released a charity Christmas single titled "Literally Everyone Else in the World".[10] The song, which reached the top of the Amazon Music chart, was created to benefit the UK-based mental health charity Mind.[10] The campaign raised over £50,000 for the organization through sales and an associated livestream fundraiser.[11]

BAFTA involvement

Douglas has been a recurring presenter for British Academy of Film and Television Arts games programming since 2016. She co-hosted the 2016 Young Game Designers awards ceremony and has since led coverage for the BAFTA Games Awards, including hosting red carpet events, conducting winner interviews, and presenting the 2026 awards longlist.[12] In 2025, she appeared in a collaborative BAFTA / Digital Cinema Media trailer celebrating narrative in video games.[13]

Personal life

Douglas holds a Master of Science (MSc) in physics from the University of Warwick.[1]

In Instagram posts, Douglas said that she appeared as an uncredited extra in the film adaptation of Ready Player One and Jurassic World Dominion.[14][15]
