Jang Seung-jong (장승종 Jang Seung-jong), also known as Player 004, is a contestant of the 33rd Squid Game in 2020.
History
Jang Seung-jong was born to his father and his 13-year-old mother on February 16, 1970. He attended Gyeonggi Junior College and worked as a bus driver for Mukook Transportation for 13 years. He lost his job on December 21, 2017 after getting into a car accident while driving under the influence. As of 2020, he was unemployed and living with his parents.[1]
After being contacted by Squid Game staff, Jang Seung-jong decided to join the Squid Games and was picked up and sedated and taken to the island where the games take place. After waking up in a large room with 455 other people, Jang Seung-jong can be seen when the assembled players are formally welcomed to the games. He signed a consent form and had her picture taken before proceeding.
Player 004 managed to survive the first game, Red Light, Green Light. When there was a vote held afterwards to decide whether to continue the games, he decided to vote no, and he was sent home along with everyone else. He was one of many people to return when the games resumed weeks later.
Fate
During the second game, Sugar Honeycombs, Jang Seung-jong broke his shape and was shot when there was 5 minutes on the timer.

Mistakes
- Jang Seung-jong was implied to have died during the initial panic of "Red Light, Green Light", as his icon blacked out during the game. He was later portrayed by a woman in . These are most likely mistakes on the editors' and casting director's parts, respectively.
- His survival also means that he presumably voted to end the games, as there were two "no" votes and then two "yes" votes prior to Oh Il-nam voting.
- When Hwang Jun-ho opens the player list for the 28th Squid Game, Jang Seung-jong's file appears. However, it explicitly states that he participated in the 33rd Squid Game, with his parents' ages lining up as such. This was most likely an error on the prop designer's part.
- His icon shows a female.
- In the show, he is seen as a female mostly rather than his actual gender.
- The same women who played the female Player 004 also plays Player 453 in Tug of War on Team 8.
