The Janssen Auto Group is an organization that represents a network of automotive dealerships, both domestic and foreign brands. Established in 1971..[1], the organization started as a single Chrysler, Plymouth, and Imperial dealership in McCook, Nebraska,[2] and has since developed into seven dealerships total. The Janssen Auto Group offers automotive brands to the public for sale, including Ford Motor Company, Chevrolet, Chrysler Corporation, and Honda Motor Company. Currently, the Janssen Auto Group has dealerships located in five different cities, that encompasses two states total.

The organization was originally founded by Lee Janssen and his wife Patricia Janssen[3] and is now owned and operated by his sons, Dan and Dave Janssen. The entire organization currently consists of seven individual dealerships. Those dealerships are Janssen & Sons Ford, Holdrege, NE[4]; Lee Janssen Motor Company, Holdrege, NE[5]; Janssen Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, Holdrege, NE[6]; Janssen Kool Honda, McCook, NE[7]; Janssen Chrysler Jeep Dodge, North Platte, NE[8]; Janssen Ford of York, York, NE[9]; and Janssen Ford of Larned, Larned, KS[10].

Annual New Year's Eve Free Rides Program[edit]

Annually the Janssen Auto Group organization offers a program titled, "New Year's Eve Free Rides Home". The program allows local residents of Janssen Auto Group dealership locations to celebrate their New Year's holiday without worrying about finding a designated driver.[11]

Company Expansion[edit]

The purchasing of Black Motor Company[edit]

In May of 2015[12], Janssen Auto Group acquired the Black Motor Company, located in Holdrege, Nebraska. The Black Motor Company began selling Dodge products in 1978, followed by Chrysler in 1983, and Jeep in 1994. The Janssen Auto Group has purchased the business from the Black family and continue to sell Chrysler Corporation vehicles to the same service area[13].

The purchasing of Moses Motor Company[edit]

In July of 2016, Ford Motor Company approved the purchase of Moses Motor Company, located in York, Nebraska, and the ownership was transferred to the Janssen Auto Group. The York dealership is the Janssen Auto Group's seventh location[14].

Charitable Activities[edit]

The donation of 16-passenger van to help Sioux Falls, SD, community church[edit]

In March of 2016, Janssen Auto Group assisted in donating a 16-passenger van to the Falls Community Church of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Janssen Auto Group, Bethel Lutheran Church Foundation, and White's Auto Glass teamed up to donate the vehicle to the church[15].

Holdrege Public Schools[edit]

During the school year of 2015, Janssen Auto Group donated to the "Giving Back To Education" program that helps finance the Holdrege public schools[16].

YMCA of the Prairie[edit]

During the year of 2014, Janssen Auto Group has donated to the YMCA of the Prairie to assist them in funding their programs. The YMCA utilizes the funds to deliver on their commitment to provide health, education, and social services to anyone[17]
