The Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH (Janz Technik und Labor, JTL) is a service and manufacturing company for precision mechanics with ist official office situated in Malente. The comapny derived from a workshop that was founded by Hugo Janz 1935 in Kiel. It is producing high quality laboratory technology and is also a manufacturer for Revolvers.

The main focus of the Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH was put right from the start on the dairy industry analytics sector. In collaboration with the German Bundesanstalt für Milchforschung (Federal Institute of Diary Research) fundamental testing methods and lab instruments were developed.
In the 1990s The Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH has manufactured various gun parts for the gun manufacturer Korth. Tob e able to manufacure gun parts a permit was needed. Only to a gun smith master craftsman was issued such a permit. Therefore, the then owner ofthe Janz GmbH, Uwe Janz, decided to take the examination as a mast gun smith additionally to his master in precision mechanics. At this time the Janz GmbH was thinking of buying the Korth company. This idea, nevertheless, was discarded because of an unreasonable high price. Shortly after this the Korth company once again went bankrupt under Graf Bernstorff and Janz stayed behind with a lot of Korth gun parts and unpaid bills. Nevertheless, the Janz company at that point had already gained a lot of manufacturing knowledge mand the permit to build guns.
Therefore the Janz company decided to produce their of revolver. For this reason a former Korth technician was hired. The first in-house developed revolver went into serial production in 1998. Since 2000 the Janz company is produing a worldwide unique revolver system with changeable calibers.

The Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH manufactures lab technology for dairy industry analytics, osmometers, repairs cameras and takes on CNC-contract work.
Additionally the company manufactures the Janz-Revolver. All gun parts are in-house made apart from the grip plate and the barrel blank. About 10 revolvers are produced each month. Janz offers revolvers in different calibers and in three different frame sizes. All three frame sizes are available as fixed calibers. The biggest frame is reserved execptionally fort he calibers .460 S&W and .500 S&W. The other two frames are offered with a quick change barrel with lenths between 2 ½ “ and 12“. These frames allow a change of caliber, which is worldwide unique, from .22lfB tp.454 Casull.
The change is possible within seconds without tools, independant of non-center and center fire.
