Early Life[edit]

Nissen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended South Shore High School, one of the largest public high schools in the country at the time, where he excelled in both academics and sport. He played as a wide receiver for his school’s football team and won numerous awards for his achievements on the field, including the Scholar Athlete Award for NYC distributed by the Heisman Trophy Association and being named an All-Brooklyn honoree. He also showed a keen interest in math, winning the NYC Science Fair and attending the International Science Fair for his project “Multi-Dimensional Spiral Sequences.

Nissen attended the private liberal arts university Hamilton College in upstate New York for his undergraduate degree.. He graduated from the university in 1994 with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and a minor in economics. During his time attending Hamilton College, he also participated in a number of extracurriculars. He held the social chair position for the private liberal arts school’s Delta Upsilon fraternity chapter, and was captain of the college’s football team. In his junior year he set the school record for receptions, a number that remains third in its history today.

Career[edit]

Nissen spent over a decade as chief executive officer for National Events Company, a ticketing brokerage business based in New York. During his time leading the firm, he built it into a global agency able to generate revenues upwards of $80 million on an annual basis. Leading a staff of over 30 employees, as the principal executive Nissen facilitated the negotiation and purchase of roughly 160,000 tickets per year to some of the biggest events in the world. The tickets were then sold to individuals via the internet, but also in bulk packages to Fortune 500 companies and some of the world’s premier concierge services.

He has also served as chief executive officer for the hospitality firm World Events Group. Operating at a global scale, the business established corporate partnership agreements with professional sports teams and organizations both in the United States and internationally. The agreements involved organizing hospitality events centered around the teams' games, catering to the enjoyment of their fans and other corporate partners. They specialized in delivering meticulous door-to-door service, extending its collaboration to NFL teams in order to develop fan travel programs centered around away games, including the Super Bowl. The packages encompassed hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the game, vibrant tailgate parties, as well as exclusive opportunities to meet celebrities and players.

Nissen also co-founded the Minus Zero Music Festival, running it as CEO between 2015 and 2017. A one-of-a-kind Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival that brought together world-renowned DJs performing for thousands of attendees alongside skiing and snowboarding events, Nissen organized and managed the online system for marketing and ticket sales for the festival as well as its official merchandise. He also managed the safe construction of the entertainment space for the performers and attendees, amongst other responsibilities.

Achievements[edit]

Nissen has successfully built two companies from the ground up, with both achieving millions in annual revenues. He is also known for founding and orchestrating a high-concept music festival.

In high school, Nissen won the Scholar Athlete Award for NYC distributed by the Heisman Trophy Association. He was also named an All-Brooklyn honoree, a local distinction for the borough.

Nissen has been involved in the sale of tickets and coordination of hospitality packages for numerous prestigious global events, including the Super Bowl, the Final Four, all four major tennis tournaments, the World Cup, the Olympics, the Kentucky Derby, The Masters, Coachella, and Hamilton on Broadway.
