Jato Ehijator
Jato Ehijator is a Nigeria film director, producer, and writer. [1]
Early life[edit]
Ehijator was born as Jato Ugberaese in Nigeria.
Career[edit]
Jato Ehijator's career in the film industry began at OGD Pictures in Nigeria.[2] His debut feature film, King of Shitta, was released in 2013.[3][4] King of Shitta highlighted key social issues prominent in a Lagos' ghetto.[2] [4]
In 2013, Jato relocated to South Africa; working for INET Media as a Creative Director and then at Fiesta Records as a Producer of a reality TV show entitled Make you a Star.[2] Make you a Star (2015) was a reality TV series.[5] The project focused on empowering people, especially those in the less privileged communities of South Africa, who often find it difficult to develop their music skills into a career.[6] Following Make You a Star, Jato Ehjator worked with an NGO to produce a documentary entitled Walking the Path, which tells the story of people living with disabilities in South Africa.[2] [7] The documentary film, which was developed for the Disability Workshop Development Enterprise, was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.[8]
In 2017, after founding Artsy Lens Studio, Ehijator filmed a TV commercial for the West African market to promote Meditol Soap.[2][7][9] In 2018, he produced a short film called Dunoon, highlighting issues of domestic violence and child abuse within a township in Cape Town.[10] Dunoon was followed by a full length feature film produced and directed by Jato entitled SA Girl.[11] SA Girl starred Nigerian actress Belinda Effah as well as Daniel Lloyd and Jason Maydew.[citation needed]
In 2019, Jato Ehijator began filming Trafficked--Africa in Durban, South Africa.[12] The movie explores the lives of characters who have been trafficked and their families, as well as those involved in fueling the human trafficking industry; focusing on social issues such as human trafficking, HIV/AIDS, and prostitution.
