Jay Malcolm Lee Markwick (born January 1993) is an English dancer, choreographer, and producer. He has won several awards, including Spain's Next Star and Pride of Spain Young Achiever Award.
Dance career
2010 - 2012
When Markwick appeared in front of Simon Cowell in Britain's Got Talent, Simon told him that he was a good dancer but would not know what to do with him.[1] Despite this, Markwick worked as a professional dancer for the Ballet de Murcia touring Jordan once and China twice. He performed in 'Carmen' in Spain in 2011 and China in 2012 and in Corazon de Lunares, in Jordan in 2011. He performed in the original version of Explosion in 2012. During this period Jay also worked with the Raquel Peña Dance Academy, the Academia de Lola Sornichero, The Conservatorio Superior de Danza y Arte Dramatico de Murcia, El Nuevo Ballet de Murcia, Ballet Español de Murcia and alongside dancers from The Nacional de España and in workshops with Farruquito, Farruco, Oscar de los Reyes, and Pablo Egea.
2013 - 2014
Markwick performed the original version of Explosion in Spain and the All New Explosion also in Spain.[2][3]
2015 to present
Markwick performed as the Lead Male Dancer in the All New Explosion across the UK in its first tour outside of Spain, including London's West End.[4][5]
