Jake David Kiss (born May 15, 1998), known professionally as Jay Portal is a Canadian recording artist and record producer from Hamilton, Ontario. On July 27th, 2018, Portal released his debut mixtape Hell Is Where The Heart Is (HIWTHI) followed by his second mixtape Alone In My Buried Memories (AIMBM) on November 23, 2018 and his third mixtape The Making of a Monster (TMOAM) on March 8th, 2019.[1][2][3]
Shortly after the release of TMOAM, Portal began planning for another series of music projects, this time seeking to release 3 separate extended plays each with only 5 tracks.
Months later the initial roll-out began for Portal's first extended play, Just Another Summer In Hell (JASIH) which was then released on August 2nd, 2019.[4] In September 2019, Portal debuted the title for his second extended play Cry Now, Die Later (CNDL) completely written and produced by Portal.
Music career
On October 6th, 2017 Jay Portal collaborated with DBLCRSS and Stanley on his debut single release "Highs & Lows".[5]
Jay Portal released his first mixtape in collaboration with DBLCRSS, Hell Is Where The Heart Is on July 27, 2018 and was promoted by music videos for tracks "Too Hot" and "Beast Boy".[6][7]
On November 23, 2018, Portal released his second mixtape with DBLCRSS, Alone In My Buried Memories including lead single "Shot After Shot" featuring LEO. on March 8, 2019. Following the mixtape's release, Portal was cited Hamilton's Artist Of The Week by local lifestyle magazine Hamilton Rising.[8][9]
In early 2019, Jay Portal, DBLCRSS and manager Cameron Moore formed GLORYMADE, an independent record company based in Hamilton, Ontario.
On March 8th, 2019, Portal released his third mixtape with DBLCRSS, The Making of a Monster which was promoted by early releases of the tracks "No Way" and "Really!?".[10][11][12][13] The mixtape's release also featured a sold out release party at The Casbah in Hamilton, Ontario.[14]
Following the series of three 7-track mixtape releases, Portal wrote, produced and released three singles "Carve You Up","Oh No" and "No Secret".[15][16][17]
On July 27th, 2019, marking the one-year anniversary of Hell Is Where The Heart Is, Portal and the GLORYMADE family hosted Hamilton, Ontario's first ever downtown block party. A few days after the event Cameron Moore announced the return of GLORYMADE's block party in 2020, an addition to Hamilton's annual summer festivities.[18]
On August 2nd, 2019, Portal released his first EP collaboration with DBLCRSS, Just Another Summer In Hell including the previously released promotional tracks "Before I Die" and "I Doubt It".[19][20]
All four projects to date were published and released by GLORYMADE and written solely by Portal with all four projects featuring production and engineering by Ryan DBLCRSS Moore.
