Jayne Cravens

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Jayne Cravens is a specialist in volunteering[1] [2][3]based in the USA who operates Coyote Communications[4].

She is a pioneer regarding the research, promotion and practice of Virtual Volunteering, including virtual teams, microvolunteering, and crowdsourcing.

Cravens became involved with CompuMentor in the 1990s[5] which became TechSoup.org, a nonprofit international network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide technical support and technological tools to other nonprofits.

From December 1996 to January 2001, Cravens directed the Virtual Volunteering Project[6], which pioneered the use of the internet to recruit and manage volunteers. This included the first ever research project regarding online volunteering[7].

Jayne worked in Afghanistan in 2007 with United Nations Volunteers and in Ukraine, Egypt, and Poland, helping NGOs with communications and community engagement strategies[8].

She was a guest member of the faculty at the 2007 Institute for Advanced Volunteer Management (IAVM) conducted by Community Service Volunteers (CSV), now Volunteering Matters in Blackpool, England and at the 2010 Australasian Retreat for Advanced Volunteer Management in Australia[9]. In 2015, Cravens was the Fall 2015 Duvall Leader in Residence at the University of Kentucky’s Center for Leadership Development (CFLD), part of the University's College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, in Lexington, Kentucky[10].

Cravens received her BA in Journalism from Western Kentucky University and her Master's degree in Development Management from Open University in the U.K.[11]
