Jean-Pierre Gary (french: Jean-Pierre Gary) was a fictional footballer, hero of the short-lived “Rouge et Or” comic strip series published in 1949 in the magazine Vaillant (future Pif Gadget). The comic strip was drawn by Raymond Poïvet and written by Jean Ollivier.
Jean-Pierre Gary was the first French paper footballer and the strip “Rouge et Or” lasted only 12 issues.

Club
In 1949 Jean-Pierre Gary plays for french side US Clamecy wearing “Rouge et Or” colours (red and gold). US Clamecy were a small club nicknamed as “Rouge et Or” (could be a reference to Racing Lens).
Gary was the club's captain and he managed to lead his team to the 1949 Coupe de France victory over Strasbourg, scoring the only goal of the final at the Stade Colombes.[1]
