Jeff Cragg (born February 18, 1961) is a Delaware businessman and politician. A Republican, he announced his candidacy for the Governor of Delaware in the 2012 elections. He won the support and endorsement of the Republican State Committee for Governor, but lost the general election to incumbent Governor Jack Markell.

Early life and career

Jeff was born in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from New Trier High School and then attended Carleton College, where he played football. He graduated from Carleton in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He went on to work for Provident Indemnity Life, which he brought into profitability.[citation needed] He moved to Delaware in 1991 to work for multiple insurance companies in the state. In 2000 he and his wife, Terry, opened a packaging/shipping and mail receiving business in Fairfax, Delaware, which they currently own today. Jeff is the father of four children, Chase, Tyler, Madison, and Grant. Chase, Tyler, and Madison all attended and graduated from Brandywine High School in Wilmington, Delaware.[1]

Campaign for Delaware Governor, 2012

On April 11, 2012, Jeff announced he was running for Governor of Delaware.[1][2] On April 29, he became the Delaware Republican endorsed candidate.[3] He ran unopposed in the Delaware Republican Primary and faced the incumbent Jack Markell in November.[4] He made a number of campaign appearances around the state,[2][5] including at the Delaware State Fair.[6] Cragg lost the election to Markell, the incumbent Democrat.[7]
