Jeff Firewalker Schmitt

Jefferey D Schmitt (also Jeff Firewalker Schmitt) is an American scientist, educator, folk healer, ceremonialist, and musician.[1][2][3][4] He has practiced in the fields of medical research, molecular biophysics, education, native healing and music.[1][3][5][6] He conducted research in cellular signal transduction at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.[7][8] before shifting his focus to the computational modeling of biological systems.[9][10] In addition to his academic pursuits, Schmitt was engaged in musical performance and writing [11]

Education and academic affiliations

Jeff Schmitt attended Wake Forest University where he was awarded a BS in Chemistry.[12] This was followed by a joint-university graduate study at the University of Bath and Oxford University where he obtained a doctorate in Molecular Biophysics. He is a former faculty member from Wake Forest University.[13]

Business and research career

Schmitt has served in several organizations, including Eagle Condor Council (founder),[14] Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Bent Creek Institute of the University of North Carolina as their founding Scientific Director, Targacept, Inc. as a co-founder, Sanesco Health Inc. as their Chief Scientific Officer, and Illumivu/Cardiogram, Inc. as their Chief Data Scientist.[15][16]

Music: Saint Disruption and the Saint Disruption Podcast

Schmitt is the co-founder of Saint Disruption, a musical collective done in collaboration with John Medeski.[1][17] The group has released several albums with Rose in the Oblivion as the debut album. [1][2][4][5][11]
