Jeff Gardiner is video game designer and producer originally from Rochester, New York. He currently works at Bethesda Game Studios, where he has worked on several AAA games in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series since 2005. Jeff Gardiner was the Lead Producer of Fallout 4.

Early Life[edit]

Jeff was interested in role playing and fantasy gaming from an early age. Before the inception of video games, Jeff explored and expressed his interest in alternate universes through Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer Fantasy Battle.[1]. He served as Dungeon Master for his group of friends in Hilton, New York for several years, where he grew up and lived through high school.

After finishing high school, Jeff attended SUNY Oswego, from which he received his Bachelors in Creative Writing[1], based on his love of creating fantasy realms from the games of his youth.

In 1996, Jeff moved to Los Angeles, California, where he bartended and worked on his Masters degree, which he received in 2000 in Information Technology from American InterContinental University.[1]

Career[edit]

Jeff started his professional career at VANs, as a Web Developer until 2002 when he had the opportunity to join 7 Studios as a game designer. In the 3 years and 10 months he was with 7 Studios, he quickly ascended to Director of Design. Jeff worked as a designer on Defender[2] and Lead Designer on Fantastic 4[3]

In 2005, Jeff relocated to the Washington, DC area to join Bethesda Games Studio as a Producer, where he started working with the team on the elder scrolls title, Oblivion. Jeff has lead the production of all the DLC content for Oblivion (2006)[4][5], all the DLC content for Fallout 3 (2009)[6], and Fallout 4 (2015)[6][7] in addition to working as a Senior Producer on Skyrim (2011)[4][8] and Producer on Fallout 3 (2008).[6][9]

Jeff enjoys sharing his experience with students and enthusiasts looking to get into the video game industry. He has returned to his alma mater, SUNY Oswego, to speak to creative writing students several times and encourage them in writing and video game careers[10]. In 2016, he spoke at the Indiedevelopment Conference, a student game development conference in the Netherlands.[11]
