Life and Career

Jeff Janiak was born in Livingston, New Jersey and spent the first years of his life in Irvington, New Jersey until the late 1970's. Janiaks family moved to Dover Township, New Jersey where he would spend most of his childhood. Janiak began skateboarding at a young age than began winning numerous skateboard contests which would later gain him sponsorships. Janiak's introduction to punk rock music came through watching skateboarding videos, than later hearing the Dead Kennedys Plastic Surgery Disasters album.[8] Jeff Janiak's introduction to playing music began at the age of 12 when he taught himself how to play the drums, than at the age of 14 Janiak started his first band Chaotic Discharge.[9] Janiak left home at age 17 and went to the Lower East Side of Manhatten. Janiak joined up with some local NYC punk rockers and would end up squatting in an abandoned building until it was shut down by the NYPD.[10] After the squat was shut, Janiak than spent the remainder of his time in NYC living in and around Tompkins Square Park. During this time, Janiak developed a drug addiction which would last from his late teens and into his mid twenties whilst going on an 8 year hiatus from playing music. In 1997 Janiak was arrested and charged with drug possession and was sent to a New Jersey prison. Upon his release, Janiak cleaned up his act and started working in the automotive industry spray painting cars,[11] than joined the band Dead Heros in 2002 as a vocalist until 2008.[12] In 2008, Janiak got married and left New Jersey and moved to Stoke On Trent, England. In 2009, Janiak attended a local gig and met members of the punk band Wasted Life and soon joined their ranks as vocalist until 2013. In 2012, Janiak joined the band Broken Bones, than in 2014 it was announced that Janiak would be the new vocalist for the legendary punk band Discharge.[13] On November 4th 2015 (Janiak's birthday), It was announced that Discharge had signed with Nuclear Blast Records to release their 7th studio album End Of Days.[14] On May 6th, 2016, End Of Days hit the official UK charts reaching #10 in the rock charts and #23 in the indie charts.[15] [16]
