Jeff Margolis is an American television producer and director.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Margolis was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, along with his younger brother and sister. After beginning his education as a pre-med student at University of Southern California, Margolis realized his true passion lied with the arts. He quickly transferred to UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. While a student at UCLA, he got his first job doing cue cards on the daily game show, Let's Make a Deal, and has been working in television ever since.[1]

Career[edit]

Margolis formed his production company, Jeff Margolis Productions, in 1976 to produce and package television programs.

Margolis and Jeff Margolis Productions produced many network special telecasts such as eighteen Screen Actors Guild Awards[2], The First Family’s Holiday Gift To America: A Clinton Tour Of The White House, CBS...50 Years From Television City, The Disco Ball, A Musical Christmas At Walt Disney World, The Television Academy Hall Of Fame, Motown 45,[3] A Gala For The President At Ford’s Theatre, a September 11th tribute concert United We Stand, An Evening With Bette, Cher, Meryl, Goldie & Robin, and performance specials for Michael Jackson [4] to name a few from a repertoire of over two hundred productions. Jeff Margolis Productions also produced the NBC musical variety series, Fame (2003 TV Series), the VH1 audition series In Search Of The Partridge Family,[5] and the Golf Channel series Pipe Dreams and Chasing The Dream.[6]

Honors and Awards[edit]

Margolis has won two Directors Guild of America Awards, an Emmy Award[7] [8] for directing the Academy Awards, a producing Emmy for Sammy Davis, Jr.’s 60th Anniversary Celebration [9], and has accumulated six other Emmy nominations for directing the Academy Awards telecasts.[10] [11] [12]
