Jeff Rosenthal is an American entrepreneur, and one of the five co-founders of Summit, a series of invitation-only events that aim to foster entrepreneurship and global change.[1][2]
Early life[edit]
Rosenthal grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended American University in Washington, D.C.[3]
Career[edit]
Rosenthal was a senior advisor to The Rise Fund;[4] he is on the board of directors of Beyond Conflict[5] and, he was a Founding Board Member of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition[6]
Rosenthal is also a senior advisor to TPG Rise, the largest impact fund in the world.[7]
Rosenthal is a founding partner at the Drawdown Fund.[4][8]
In 2014, Rosenthal was listed as one of UNICEF Innovation’s 9 Innovators to Watch.[9] Through Summit, Rosenthal worked with UNICEF to launch a fellowship program that included a database of about a hundred individuals, and their respective skill sets, to be available to UNICEF country officers all the time, for any issues the individuals could help solve.[10]
Rosenthal hosts the podcast Art of the Hustle, where he has conversations with his guests about their successes and failures.[11][12]
Summit[edit]
Rosenthal is the co-director of the Summit Action Fund.[13] He is a founding board member of the Summit Institute, and leads Summit’s music, art, content, and community curation programs,[6]
In addition, Rosenthal leads architecture, design, and development at Summit Powder Mountain.[6]
In 2008, Rosenthal founded Summit alongside Elliot Bisnow, Brett Leve, Jeremy Schwartz, and Ryan Begelman.[14][15][16] Summit’s first event drew 19 people.[17] In 2011, 1500 people were at the first Summit at Sea event, and 3500 were at Summit LA in 2017.[18][19]
In 2013, Rosenthal, Bisnow, Leve, and Schwartz purchased Powder Mountain after crowdsourcing the funding from the Summit Community.[20][21] The co-owners formed a company called SMHG LLC that trades as Summit Powder Mountain.[22][23] The company operates the Powder Mountain Ski Resort and serves as Summit’s sister company.[24][25]
