Early life and education[edit]

Jennie Choi was born in Kwangju, Republic of Korea in 1983. She attended the United States Military Academy and volunteered for training at the United States Army Airborne School—widely known as Jump School—where she received basic paratrooper (military parachutist) training earning her the coveted United States Army Parachutist Badge (commonly referred to as "Jump Wings"); prior to graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Psychology (Human Factors Engineering} and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. Choi later attended Columbia University in New York, NY, completing a Master's of Business Administration degree – MBA in 2012.

Military service[edit]

After graduation from West Point, Choi was assigned to the United States Army’s World Class Athlete Program from 2006–2007 after selection to the USA Team Handball Women's National Team. In 2007, Choi was assigned to Fort Carson, Colorado deploying toOperation Iraqi Freedom with the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th ID in Mosul, Iraq under the control of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, After returning to Fort Carson, Colorado she was assigned to U.S. Army Central at Fort McPherson, in Atlanta, Georgia. Choi resigned from the Army in 2010 after five years, at the rank of Captain
