Jennifer Crane (born 1967) is a Canadian photographer / Lens-Based Artist known for her conceptual, still life and stereographic imagery.

Career[edit]

Crane's work investigates the relationship between the body and the lens in both historical and contemporary images and old and new technologies. Through the creation of still photography, video installations, performance, and fictional photographic archives her work engages the themes of memory, narrative, authenticity and archival practice, employing historical, analogue and digital processes. Crane has been based in Saskatoon since 2005, where she is Associate Professor and Chair of the Photography Area in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan. Her teaching covers a range of processes in both chemical and digital methods, small and large format cameras. She specializes in large-scale digital printing, historical processes, pinhole imagery and stereo photography. She has exhibited her work in galleries and museums throughout Canada and the USA as well as in Europe, Asia and South America.[1]

Crane has a BFA from York University (1990), and an MFA degree from Concordia University, 1998.
