Jeremy Annear
Jeremy Annear (born 1949) is an English painter from Exeter who is notable for his geometric abstract paintings.
Biography[edit]
Annear was born in Exeter in Devon. He studied painting and printmaking at the Exeter College of Art before earning his B.Ed at Rolle College in Exmouth.[1] Annear taught at the Dartington College of Arts and eventually became the Director of the Ryder Gallery at the College.[1] Annear married the artist Judy Buxton and the couple spent a number of years in her native Australia.[2] From the late 1980s the couple lived in Cornwall and Annear exhibited on a regular basis at the Newlyn Art Gallery.[3] He had other solo exhibitions as well, notably at the Millennium Gallery in St Ives in 2004 and on several occasions at David Messum Fine Art. Annear also exhibited in France, Switzerland and in Germany, where he spent 1991 and 1992 painting at Worpswede, supported by a scholarship.[1][3] Annear and Buxton had a joint exhibition at the Lynne Strover Gallery in Fen Ditton in 2002.[3]
