Jeremy Konner is an American writer, producer and director known for his work on Drunk History,[1] Waffles + Mochi[2] and Another Period.[3] He is the co-creator, director and showrunner of Drunk History and Waffles + Mochi.

Biography[edit]

Jeremy Konner was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of American screenwriters Lawrence Konner and Ronnie Wenker Konner.[4] His sister, Jenni Konner[4] is an American television writer, producer, and director.[5] He attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California.[6] He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 2002.[7]

In 2008 Konner made the feature documentary D Tour: A Tenacious Documentary which followed Jack Black and Kyle Gass' band Tenacious D as they toured across the world.[8] In 2007 he teamed up with Derek Waters to make the web series Drunk History.[9] They then developed it into a TV show and in 2013 Drunk History began airing on Comedy Central.[10] The show was produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions[11][12] and ran for six seasons.[13][14] In 2013, together with Maria Blasucci and Amanda Lund, Konner co-created and directed the twelve episode series Ghost Ghirls produced by Jack Black's Electric Dynamite Productions.[15] In 2015 Konner served as the director, writer, and executive producer on Comedy Central’s Another Period, produced by Ben Stiller's Red Hour Productions, created by Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome.[16][17] In 2016 he directed the Funny Or Die parody Donald Trump's The Art of The Deal: The Movie.[18][19][20]

Konner is the co-creator, director and showrunner of the children's cooking television series Waffles + Mochi.[21][22][23] The show premiered on Netflix in 2021 and stars Michelle Obama and is produced by Michelle and Barack Obama under their production company Higher Ground Productions.[24][25][26]

Awards and nominations[edit]

Jeremy Konner has been nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for his work on Drunk History[27][28][29][30][31][32][33]. He received the Jury Prize for Short Filmmaking at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival for his short film Drunk History: Douglass and Lincoln.[34]

Personal Life[edit]

Jeremy Konner lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife, architect Emily Farnham and their son.[35]He is Jewish.[36]
