Jernade Miah (Bengali: জুনায়েদ মিয়া; born 6 September 1991) is an English singer-songwriter and dancer of Bangladeshi origin. He is signed to Warner Music Group and has previously signed to 2Point9 Records and IK Records. East Londoner Jernade has spent the past year both in London and Los Angeles recording and writing, with production credits coming from ADP (Krept & Konan, Zayn Malik) Chrishan (Chris Brown, Kid Ink), Willie Donut (Jeremih), and has features from Dr Dre Aftermath prodigy Candice Pillay on the track Speak.

His latest single Tequila was recorded and written in L.A. His debut mixtape was co written & Produced by super producer Chrishan whose credits include Chris Brown (HBOAFM), Kid Ink and Little Mix.

Jernade's style has a contemporary R’nB/Pop feel that is both distinctive & fresh. He's had support from UK heavyweight DJ Target on BBC Radio 1Xtra, as well as being pushed as the BBC Introducing Artist in Aug across BBC Radio 1Xtra, with additional support from Trevor Nelson, Charlie Sloth, A.Dot, Jamz Supernova.

Early life[edit]

Miah was born in East London to Bangladeshi Muslim parents. He is of Bangladeshi descent and has two sisters.[2] Miah has fronted his own dance crew.[3]

Career[edit]

In April 2010, Miah's debut single "Switch Me On" from the free mix tape Double Check was released, under 2Point9 Records.[3] "Switch Me On" was followed by "Rejekt", "Ima Fighter", "Hero", "In and Out" and "Carnival Girl".[2] In June 2010, performed on BBC Asian Network as Bobby Friction's introducing artist at Maida Vale Studios in London.[4] In August 2010, he performed at a party for Shahrukh Khan featuring cast and crew for his film Ra.One.[5]

In October 2010, Miah's debut album Double Check was released.[6] In August 2013, his second album 1991 was released.[7]

In February 2013, Miah released "Light Your Phones Up". He gave the track away online for free download as a Valentine's Day gift.[8] In December 2013, he was interviewed by Tommy Sandhu on BBC Asian Network as part of Bangladesh Music Week.[9] In October 2015, he was interviewed by Nadia Ali on BBC Asian Network.[10]
