Jerry Simoneaux is a politician in Harris County, Texas. On November 6, 2018, he was elected Judge of Harris County Probate Court No. 1.[1]
Simoneaux went to college at the University of Houston and law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston.[2] He then went into private practice and served as a staff attorney at Harris County Probate Court No. 1.[3] In 2014, Simoneaux was the Democratic nominee for Harris County Probate Court No. 3, and was defeated by incumbent Republican Judge Rory Olsen.[4] In 2015, he began working as an Associate Judge for the Houston Municipal Courts after being nominated by Mayor Sylvester Turner and confirmed unanimously by the Houston City Council.[5][6]
In the 2018 elections, Simoneaux ran for Harris County Probate Court No. 1, and was elected, defeating incumbent Republican Judge Loyd Wright.[7] Simoneaux will take office in January.
