Jerry Smart Ordu [2] better known by his stage name as Rakon is a Nollywood actor and a rap artiste. He is best known for his manager role in Jenifa's Diary, a popular Nigerian soap opera as Jerry Koko. In 2012, he won the Best Actor award at the Promising Future Awards (PFA) and in the same year he won the Best Rapper 2012 in a freestyle battle of Emcee's by Sean Event Plan House (S.E.P.H) Entertainment [3]. He has also been featured in other soap operas like the Dreamer's Highway. He has been nicknamed "Lover Boy" due to his numerous roles in romantic films.
Early life and education
Jerry was born on July 11, 1977, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the first of six children in his family. He obtained a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Abuja, and a degree in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.[4]
Career
Jerry’s acting career kicked off when he starred in the Nigerian TV soap opera Super Story. He also starred in popular soap operas such as This Life, Papa Ajasco, Company, Nowhere to be found, Family Ties, So Wrong So Right, Needle's Eyes, Tinsel, Tales Of Eve, Heaven’s Gate, Crack in The Wall, The Benjamin's and "FACE 2 FACE".
Jerry has since then appeared in numerous films starring as the supporting lead role. He has been called “Lover-Boy” for his numerous roles in romantic films. Due to his light skin complexion he was selected to star in several love related romantic films. In 2012 Jerry won The Best Promising Actor, for the Promising Future Award (PFA) in a Leading Role for his performance in a movie Sweet Killer directed by Kurious K.
Jerry is considered to be one of the most sought-after actors in Nigeria. He has featured in some action packed movies like War Front by Teco Benson, Cash Money and The last 3 Digit Directed by Moses Iwang, African Heroes directed by Lancelot Odua Imasuen, Yankee Boys by Mega Movies and also in some lover boy /player roles including Rules of the Riches, Water Falls, Engaging Mimi, Personally Student, and Jenifa's Diary where he acted alongside Funke Akindele, in which he played the character of a manager in the saloon (Randy)[5]
