Jesse Lyu (born 1990, also known as Lyu Cheng; Chinese name: 吕骋) is a serial entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. He is known for founding Raven Tech and rct studio. Lyu was a recipient of Forbes 30 Under 30 in both Asia and China.

Background

Lyu was born in 1990 in Xi’an, China. He graduated from the Liverpool University in the UK and attended the University of Arts in London.[1]

Career

Lyu founded Raven Tech in May 2014. The company builds an AI operating system called Flow and smart hardware. The company is backed by Matrix Partners China, ZhenFund, DCM, Y Combinator. Raven Tech was acquired by Baidu, China’s biggest search engine, as a leading component of their smart hardware division, making Lyu the head of Baidu’s Intelligent Hardware Unit.[2] Lyu released three smart hardware products – raven H, raven R and raven Q – at the Baidu Annual conference.[3][4]

Lyu left Baidu in 2018[5] and formed a new company, rct studio. California-based rct graduated from Y Combinator[6] and is a creative studio where he created Morpheus, an engine that generates a logic tree built from any standard format screenplay, offering different studios and rendering text in mainstream 3D imagery.[7] As of 2019, the company had raised $1.7M in funding according to an SEC filing.[8]

Lyu is also the creator of a social app called Timeet.[1]
