Jesse Stoudt

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Jesse Austin Stoudt is an American actor and filmmaker currently residing in Tucson, Arizona. Having started his career in 2017, Jesse has already worked alongside Travis Knight (two-time Oscar nominee); Edgar Ybarra (Emmy Award winner); Steve Shermett; and Chuck Williams.

Jesse was born in July of 1996, in Jonestown, Pennsylvania. Due to health problems at birth, he was unable to hear or see for the first six months of his life. He was also born with a hereditary blood pressure condition which would later frustrate his dream of becoming a pilot and astronaut. Jesse was raised by his mother, a certified CPA. They moved around the East Coast until the age of ten, when the family settled down roots in Tucson.

As a child and adolescent, Stoudt took little interest in school, and while his intrinsic intelligence allowed him to ace his tests and graduate, his overall grades tended to reflect that lack of interest. Jesse eschewed the social scene of his school days, instead immersing himself in literature and film. He read and reread classics such as The Giver, The Last Book in the Universe, and the works of Ray Bradbury, alongside various graphic novels and comics in the Manga genre. Jesse recalls this period as the origin of his passion for the mythos of the superhero and supervillain. Films such as Gladiator and Bleach tend to typify his love for epic stories and tales of struggle and redemption. Still, Stoudt tends to become more absorbed with villains, and cites recent performances by Jared Leto among his major dramatic influences. On television, he absorbed himself in similar storylines, including series such as Supernatural (U.S. TV series) and Fringe (TV series). These and other works helped sow the seed for Jesse’s creativity and love of performance.

Throughout his life, Jesse has also been a gifted athlete, with a focus on fitness and basketball, playing in various local leagues. He is also a self-described adrenaline junkie, and can often be found longboarding down Mt. Lemmon; free-hand rock climbing; and jumping across rooftops. After high school, Stoudt went on to study at the University of Arizona, where he joined ROTC and achieved excellent academic marks. As an athlete, he particularly excelled in PT, with a plan to become an officer and eventually a pilot in the armed services. However, his blood pressure condition, which makes him vulnerable to high G-forces, put that dream to rest. Not one to dwell on the negative, Stoudt quickly modified his plan. He set out to continue his education, pursuing a film degree at the university.

Jesse initially showed passion for working behind the camera in roles such as director, production assistant, and various other crew positions. Ironically, one of his first acting roles was that of a cameraman on season 2 of the well-received series Run Coyote Run. Jesse was applying for a PA position when he was first encouraged to perform. Making contacts in the Arizona film community, such as the celebrated producer and director Steve Shermett, Jesse stumbled upon a casting call for an actor to play a professional basketball player in Amazed by You, a film by Chuck Williams, another highly-credited player in Hollywood and the Arizona film world. Williams became Jesse’s mentor, with Jesse completing Williams’ master class in 2018. Within 18 months of his first foray into performance, Jesse had been cast in numerous motion pictures, including The Tiny House Movie; John Doe: A Western Tale; and Bumblebee, the upcoming sci-fi film set in the Transformers cinematic universe. Working on the set of a Hollywood major motion picture, Stoudt initially felt overwhelmed, but soon fell in love with the dizzyingly complex process of feature filmmaking.

Jesse is currently researching the American West for his co-lead role in the upcoming feature The Righteous Twelve, alongside Dean Cain and Daniel Roebuck. This strategy reflects Stoudt’s dedication to seeing the world through the eyes of any character he plays, as he attempts to find insight into that character, and inspiration, from his own life experiences. Jesse counsels aspiring actors to work tirelessly, to become comfortable with rejection, and to immerse themselves in their roles as fully as possible. Stoudt is also viewed as a team player in the Arizona film scene, and regularly volunteers for behind-the-scenes crew work, in addition to his work with local charitable events and organizations. Jesse views film and television, and art in general, as a force for good in the world. Describing this view to an interviewer, Stoudt argued that, "As people are divided because of cultural and ideological differences, we find that art can connect people of opposing views in a manner that we cannot express in words. Art allows us to show real world problems in a creative and beautiful way. It can have such an impact on someone that they are forever inspired to change the world for the better. Even if only one person is inspired by my art that's all that matters. It only takes one person to start a movement and change the world." Stoudt’s company 233 Productions is oriented toward connecting the various talents in the local film scene.
