Early life and education[edit]

Jessica Irvine Drake was born Jessica Irvine in Worcester, Massachusetts to her American mother and Canadian father. She lived in Massachusetts until the sixth grade[2], when she relocated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and after completing high school she attended the University of Guelph, where she studied Dramatic Arts[3]. She left university early to focus on her acting career, snagging notable roles in the Toronto area until she returned to Massachusetts in 2002 to focus on the American film and television market. Shortly after in 2003, she relocated to Los Angeles, California.[4], where she studied with numerous acting schools including The New York Film Academy and The Los Angeles Actors Center. In February 2011, she relocated to Austin, Texas. Irvine Drake holds dual Canadian and American citizenship.

Career[edit]

Acting[edit]

Irvine Drake thrived in her high school and university theater departments, often writing, directing, and performing in her own productions. Her performances were entered into numerous regional acting competitions, most notably the now defunct Sears Ontario Drama Festival, where she was the recipient of several notable awards. After her studies in Dramatic Arts at the University of Guelph, Irvine secured a local agent and began steady work in the Greater Toronto Area. Her first notable role was in the acclaimed Showtime series Queer As Folk, which filmed in Toronto.

Her acting career continued to evolve and thrive in Los Angeles, California where she landed multiple television and film credits. Upon relocating to Austin, Texas, she found herself competing for more roles in a much less crowded market, and continued to accumulate even more television, film, and commercial[5] credits than when she lived in Los Angeles.

In 2020, she starred in the short film Bloom, directed by Lucy Owens and produced by Lemon Street Pictures. The film received critical acclaim and was featured in numerous festivals, where it won multiple awards. Irvine Drake was also nominated for Best Actor multiple times for her performance in the film.

In 2021, Irvine Drake appeared as Julie Bramlett in The CW’s popular series Walker[6], where she played the potential love interest of series star Jared Padalecki.

She will appear in the upcoming American comedy-drama film Chocolate Lizards, directed by Mark Lambert Bristol and based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Cole Thompson. The film had an estimated budget of US $10 million, and will be released in 2022. She is currently represented by Actor's Clearinghouse[7]

Entrepreneurship[edit]

Irvine Drake is also a business owner[4], heading two successful businesses in Austin, Texas, where she currently resides.

She created Sweeties Bakery in 2017[4], which is a thriving entity that provides fresh, homemade, and "from scratch" baked goods to local eateries and bakeries[8].

She also co-founded Rise Kickbox in 2017[4] with her ex-husband Michael and two other business partners, Fernando and Jennifer Bernstein. Rise classes are renowned in Austin for being non-contact, technique-based, and partner-based[9], and the studio runs a popular YouTube channel[10] as well.

Personal life[edit]

Irvine Drake was married in Austin, Texas in 2015 to Michael Drake. Prior to their marriage in 2011, the pair had a son[4] named Devin, who is also following his mother’s footsteps in the acting world—he recently booked his fourth independent film role, in addition to having appeared in many commercial and print ads. Irvine Drake and Drake divorced amicably in 2020, and retain their ownership of and partnership in Rise Kickbox in Austin, Texas.
