Jhazeal White (born August 23, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10). He has currently left St. Bonaventure to pursue basketball dreams in another school. At the high school level, White competed for High School of Graphic Communication Arts in Manhattan, New York.

High school career[edit]

In his freshman year of 2015–16, White was not selected to join his team as he was "too small and inefficient on both sides of the floor". The following year, White made the team and led the 49er's to a playoff appearance while posting a 16–1 record. He received quite some media attention from school and outside sources in October 2017 for his 30-point performance against a rival team in the Scoutsfocus: Elite 80. He led the way in an 82–71 overtime victory.

As a junior in 2017–18, White joined a higher ranked league in Manhattan, New York. White struggled this year as his team did not come up with a sufficient amount of wins to make the playoffs.[1] Heading over to the summer, he joined the Bronx, New York born "Back 2 Basics" squad to play Amateur Athletic Union basketball. After the season, he was named Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player. White then prepared himself for a senior season where he then helped the 49er's drastically as they recorded an a 11-7 season.[2]He then helped them get back in the playoffs where they faced off against a tough August Martin High School located in South Jamaica, Queens where they would lose behind White's 14 points that was concluded to not be enough.[3]With this loss in the first round in the playoffs, this ended White's senior season early.

Recruiting[edit]

On May 11, 2019, White announced that he will enroll at St. Bonaventure. He became the first person in his high school's history to announce that they will be attending a D-I program for college.

Personal life[edit]

White was born in Brooklyn, New York to Daniel Caldwell and Evelyn White, although White, his sister and mother moved to the New Jersey area around the age of four. He grew up mainly in New Jersey where he had a natural feeling for sports. He first started out with soccer, then landed himself as a football player. When he moved to Harlem, New York, he grew a feeling for basketball, where that sport was mainly played in his neighborhood. White in his younger years was a trouble maker, but once his mother warned him that if he keeps getting in trouble, he would not be able to play basketball, that is when he started to focus and never got in trouble again. White has profoundly focused on basketball starting his freshman year, although he was not selected to play his first year. To this day White still continues on his talent hoping to land himself in a much better suited school for basketball. Besides basketball, White has also taken after his sister, performing very well on the technology side of his life. His sister is a photographer and was an animator and digital designer. With this influence, White has created crafty pieces that can be found hanging around on his Instagram.
