Jimmy Rane (James W. Rane) is an American businessman who founded and is currently the CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving Inc. He is also known for being the richest Alabamian.[2]

History[edit]

In 1970, Jimmy Rane founded Great Southern Wood Preserving Inc. in Abbeville, Alabama, Rane's hometown. The business later grew to be one of the largest lumber producers in the Southeastern United States.[3]

Business[edit]

After the firm began, it quickly grew to over 14 facilities in the several states.[citation needed] As of 2017, the business's yearly revenue was $1 billion USD.[citation needed]

Personal Life[edit]

Orginially, Jimmy Rane was a law student; he had gotten into the lumber business by accident because he stepped in to mediate a family dispute, causing him to take control of a small fence post manufacturer. With the money he has gotten from his firm, Rane is now trying to revitalize his hometown of Abbeville, Alabama.[4]
